And what I see here...not that anyone really cares...I don't see depression or self-obsessed society ruled anorexic...I see something deep inside, writhing, a primal beast that needs to be let out but is forced always back into remission. Can I ask what the real message was...um besides obstruction.
This picture has so much meaning. It depends who is looking at it and how you look at it. One person could think, "Ugly, shes so skinny and bony." Another could think, "Depression, giving up." This picture deserves a DD. Congrats.
And this, ladies and gents, is a prime example of 'skinny-shaming'. I bet you tell overweight people to stop eating too, right?
Try to keep in mind that we can't always help our body conditions, and if this a person is skinny because of a mental condition or lack of self confidence, you telling them to eat will only make them feel worse.
Of course: We are all welcome to our own opinions. However, I would not suggest wording it in the way you did, as it is impolite to suggest that your word is moot. In saying "people all look better with their clothes on" you are suggesting that your opinion is fact and that everyone thinks the way you do. Next time I would consider the feelings of the model, as she is a human being and it is possible to offend people.
I think there are those that won't harp on a person who's overweight in fear of appearing rude, but have no problem saying "she's too skinny" or "eat a sandwich", not realizing that there's absolutely no difference between that and "she's too fat". They're both hurtful. I just see way more "eat something, I can see your ribs, gross" comments here on DA than the latter.
Of course that's what it is, which is exactly why these people need to be told that they are being offensive and they need to apologize immediately. However, another reason there is far more skinny shaming is because sadly, there has been so much big-shaming in the past years that most bigger women and men don't have the confidence to show their bodies to other people.
Yes, body shaming, gender shaming, race shaming... whatever shaming. These characteristics are not what defines us, and therefore, we have no need to bow down to today's standards of what is 'right' and 'wrong'. All of it needs to stop.
